The area is Sassenheim, The country’s claim to fame are numerous. They have cars trains and busses but their favorite mode of transport is the humble bicycle. and as you drive along these roads bisecting the colorful fields, you may not be too surprised to find lots of bicycles everywhere. If you thought it was Beijing on account of singer, Katie Melua’s song about 9 million bicycles being in Beijing, you would be wrong! Sassenheim is of course in the Netherlands and these colorful crops are fields of Tulip flowers a major export product in the spring.

I had no idea. Tulips are beautiful to be honest
Great shot. I’ve seen aerial photos of giant tulip fields in NL before, otherwise I am not so sure I would have known what I was looking at!
I was no less astounded by this drone shot when I first saw it.
i was going to guess crayons 🙂
great picture. I have pictures of bikes in Holland there were so many!
Tulips are not indigenous to Holland and were firs imported in the sixteenth century from the Ottoman Empire present-day Turkey. When Carolus Clusius wrote the first major book on tulips in 1592, they became so popular that his garden was raided and bulbs were stolen on a regular basis.
the great tulip economy collapse is legendary!
Yes , I guess at first sight
That is great, I’m glad you could guess it.

I didn’t think they would fool everyone. My ancestors are from Holland so, I knew too. Thanks for commenting.
