“A Sparrow Falls” is taken from A Sparrow Falls, a 1977 novel by Wilbur Smith. It is one of the Courtney Novels and is set during and after World War One.

Have you ever found a bird drop out?

Yes

No

Great story. I’ve experienced it before but not with a happy ending.
I had a similar photo taken some years ago. It was a nestling that I found in our backyard. Unfortunately the little bird did not survive.
We did not think it was going to make it either because the animals kept going back there to bark under the nest. Wild animals are more resilient than we realize. Thanks for commenting Alex.
I am so glad to hear that Sparry is safe and back home. The only excitement I have ever had with birds was one winter’s day ages ago when I still lived in NYC. My mom and I had gone to put flowers on my dad’s grave. There was a mausoleum with great big glass doors. Suddenly in front of me splat, a little bird hit the glass and fell. He just lay there. So I picked him up with my gloves and held him in my palm and kept rubbing his little head. My thoughts were to take him home and see what happens. However, before I knew it his eyes opened and he looked at me. I think that peep might have been thank you and then he just lifted up off my hand and flew up into the sky.
Very deep story, Sandra, maybe an Angel dropped by to say Hi to you and mom…
I have sen many baby birds fall from the nest. As far as I know they all survived.
I’m happy to hear that Carol, and though I love cats, it’s in their nature to hunt birds. This little fellow was very lucky my wife rescued it.
I’m glad Sparry was returned to the nest and survived.
So did you nurture it ready to fly back home?
No, Grace, it was too tiny to fly, we put it back into the nest it had dropped out of. When we checked later things were going just chirpy up there.
Chirpy is a good sign which means all’s well.
Trust me! we need to take good care of some birds or else some endangered species will be lost
You are so very right, especially the raptors, they are virtually all on the endangered lists worldwide. They are being poisoned by farmers who put out poisons to control rodents etc. and the raptors eat the dead rats and mice. Often an entire nest with chicks are found dead through poison.
