Spring Saffron (Crocus vernus) is one of the first harbingers of spring. Everyone knows him, bloom from March to May in the meadows. We also know ordinary saffron (Crocus sativus). For centuries, this is a well-known seasoning and also a healing plant. Unlike the spring saffron bloom in autumn.  We pick up only the stamen of saffron. Because of the special combination of substances that contain and among which very important antioxidants can be found, saffron is important in alleviating many health and well-being problems. It improves mood, inhibits appetite, alleviates digestive problems, painkillers, etc.

  1. I had heard of saffron as a spice in the old trading routes and that it is still being used today although not by me. But maybe I should use it as an appetite suppressant as you mentioned because I am desperate to lose weight. I will have to look into it… Beautiful looking plant…and flower….

  2. Glad to see this post, always wanted to know what Saffron was like and never used it nor seen it on the shelves.
    Not many know about Saffron, but I think it is a yellow dye and a very expensive spice.
    If you can grow it, well that is fabulous!
