Some of you (Ghostwriter) have been asking about the bluebirds in my yard. Where are they? When will they nest? I snapped this photo to show you what is going on.
Every year, the house sparrows give the bluebirds a fight for the nest box. When the bluebirds finally make up their mind to nest, they will chase off the sparrows.
For the past few weeks, this has been going on. The bluebirds have not nested yet. But they are defending the box. That is a good sign they are interested. I help them chase off the sparrows as well, with a few devices I have.
These sparrows will build on top of the bluebird nest, and if there are eggs, they destroy the eggs. I have photographed this many times unfortunately.
I snapped this photo to show you the male and female bluebird, and the sparrow. I was inside and snapped through the patio door. Not real clear but you get the idea.
The bluebirds keep hanging around every dat. And I have not given up. It is only April, we still have time to see bluebird babies.
Last year the robins chased them away. Fingers crossed they get a chance this year.

Unfortunately, we do not see these birds in our country. Hope all is well.
All is well for now, thank you. You can see these from my photos.
There are no blue birds here. Isn’t there an option you can chase away sparrows. To protect these beauties.
I will share mine with you if they say. Yes, I have “devices” to chase them away.
Praying for return of your bluebirds.
Thanks, they are here, just have to hope they decide to stay.
i do hope for bluebirds this year! last year was hard I know.
This photo was taken two days ago. They are here, but no nest yet.
do we need to start a petition? Or perhaps I could write you a letter of reference for the birds to read?
I have been fighting “ratbirds” since I started blue birding. Just so you know, I have a device I use and it is entirely legal. 🙂
I’ve seen a number of devices in various places. Does it work well?
Yes it does, there are just so many sparrows, persistence is the key.
We don’t have blue birds here, but it is nice to learn about them. I hope they win and we get to see the babies from your pictures.
I love these birds, hope they nest soon. Thanks.
Yes we do have small tiny bird here
Do you have bluebirds there?
Oh CAROL! It looks like its going to happen this year. This is a terrific sign and terrific news! Please build a nest!
They didnt get this interested last year right?
I hope it happens. Last year they started building and the robins chased them off. They started their nesting first. Birds are so territorial.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed, that robin does kind of resemble a bull dog in his stance.
I didn’t realize how aggressive they could be.
A wonderful photo. The birds look so peaceful. I have not seen a bluebird here in Florida.
Thanks, but that little sparrow needs to go away.
I was thinking about them too. I hope everything will be okay.
I hope so too. The yard is filling up with nests. I wish they would make up their mind! Thanks Ellie.
