On one of my trips through our beautiful country, I visited a small village Brezje. Brezje village lies under the Karavanke mountains and is best known for the Basilica of Mary. The Basilica attracts pilgrims from all over Slovenia and many foreigners. The Basilica became famous in the 19th century when the miraculous image of Mary helped some miraculous healings. The Franciscans, who built a monastery near the church, are taking care of the Basilica. The basilica is also beautiful in black and white.

Very beautiful architecture!
Thank you, Ellie. It’s really unique
Very nice image. We don’t have any nearby
Thank you. In our country, each village has its own church.
The black and white edit gives a unique edge to a magnificent building. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for seeing my post. I agree, the black and white make the building even more magnificent
What a beautiful building and made for a great black and white. We have old churches, but nothing like that around here.
Old churches can also be very interesting
The churches in my neighborhood are from different faiths. There are around at least two churches in the immediate area.
In our country we do not have many churches of other religions. I do not know if there are 10 other religions in the whole country.
That is a good question since I do not have a solid answer to give you.
The church my wife and I attend is also a basilica, one of two in Chicago.
We have two basilicas in the whole country. Otherwise we visit “ordinary” churches.
There are plenty of churches in Chicago which are more beautiful than the basilica we attend. I would imagine that this is true elsewhere in the world as well.
I agree, Gary. We also have churches that are more beautiful than the basilica. Each village has its own church.
I live in Chicago which has quite a few Catholics. As immigrants came from different parts of the world, they built churches where the Mass was said in their languages. The result is that there are quite a few churches around.
I’ve never understood pilgirmages…
I believe you. I do not understand well too. I notice that people think that a miracle will occur at pilgrimage (miraculous healing, etc.)
that doesn’t make any sense to me, if a miracle can happen then it can happen anywhere. this is more like wanting lighting to strike twice…
Beautiful building we don’t have anything like this in New Zealand, just a few churches of different denominations.
There are two such basilicas in our country
Very beautiful photo and some of our NZ churches are great. I love the country churches, Im not sure which type they are.
Love the building, and it would be awesome to visit there.
Thank you, Jenna. I’m not sorry I visited this place.
Such an excellent architect design to this building!
I agree, Carol. The building really looks fantastic
The basilica is beautiful in any version of the picture. Btw. in what year was the basilica built?
We have one cathedral church in Jakarta.
The Basilica was to begin building in 1889, and works were completed in 1900
It is indeed a magnificent building with great architecture!
Although I am not a fan of black and white photography, this basilica is also beautiful in black and white
Thank you, Lado. Such magnificent buildings are beautiful even in black and white
I have to agree with you dear Vidocka
We have many churches and a Basilica in Torrevieja Spain
Nearly every village has its own church in our country.
There are many religious buildings near us. We live in a very diverse part of the world. Your picture is so awesome.
Do the bells ring on Sunday mornings? I love that sound!!!
Thank you, Doc. We have a tradition to ring every morning, noon and night.
We lived by a church in Cincinnati Ohio. They rang the bells at 6 am 12 noon and 6 pm every day.
Love the sound!
Waooo so beautiful building
Thank you so much … it’s really a fantastic building
