Black and White Friday ~ Church of St. Nicholas

Today I was exploring the place of my vacation again. As I drove to a nearby town, I noticed a church in the middle of the field. Of course I stopped and looked at the church. This is the church of St. Nicholas. The church is built on a hill in the middle of a field and you can experience unforgettable sunsets here. For the rulers of the Croatian dynasty and for Nin and Croatian history, the church is very important. In Nin, according to popular tradition, seven kings were crowned, and each crowned ruler drove to the church of St. Nicholas, and here he introduced himself to people with the same symbolic rite – with a sword swung on all four sides of the world. Church of St. Nicholas is the only surviving example of early Romanesque architecture of this form in Dalmatia, dating from the late 11th and early 12th centuries.

  1. It’s unique that the church was built on a hill. I always think the church buildings are beautifully designed and built. Thanks for sharing this!
