Browsing through my photo library I came across this photo I took from my deck garden. When I first bought Lantana plants, I had no idea they produced these berries before they bloomed. It was a nice surprise.

Thanks for sharing lovely post.
You are very welcome, thanks for the visit.
I have quite a liking for the berries family, as in cherries, blueberries, raspberries etc. So much so that I am not into gin. Kinda like coffee caffeine it takes me on that high…
There you are Bradley, so good to see you. I hope all is well in your world.
Berries are fascinating. Amazing about a berry high. 🙂
Yes Carol all is well and good. I trust for you too. I’ve just been busy working on other stuff.
Lovely photo. They look just like blackberries – is the Lantana plant maybe related to the blackberry? Intriguing.
I researched and could not find where they are related but they have been mistaken for blackberries by some. Typical blackberry leaves are “digitally compound,” with leaflets arising from atop a petiole like a hand’s “digits,” but this plant bears simple, or undivided, leaves.
I feel like I’ve seen it before but they all look alike to me. I’m a plant racist…
Ha! You are such a funny dude. 🙂
Joking, of course. If anything, flora displays more diversity than fauna…
Wonderful. I have not seen flowers with strawberries yet.
These are not strawberries, they are simply part of my plant growing in my garden, it will bloom and then the berries appear.
Seeing the fruits, my hands felt itchy to pick them.
I actually leave them alone as they form after the blooming. Amazing.
I have not seen such strawberries, and they are something special for me…super

…sorry I said that wrong. The berries form after the blooms.
Everyone can be wrong … no problem … it’s logical that the first flower and then the strawberry
Alibb took my question lol. Are they edible? Pretty photo!
The dark blue-black ones are edible.
Hmm… Are they edible? :p
The unripe green Lantana berries and leaves contain toxic compounds called triterpenoids.
Only the dark bluish-black Lantana berries are safe for consumption, and may be eaten out of hand or made into jams and jellies. When crushed, whey leave a deep inky stain which may be used to create a light purple dye.
Woo… thanks for the info!
that’s really cool! At first I thought they might be black current but I was wrong :p
I found it interesting to research as I didn’t know.
