Being secure isn't hard, but always plan for the worst!

I did manage to hold off on my traditional security statement, but I couldn’t any longer.

  1. Change your passwords as often as you can!
  2. Everyone is at risk, and no one is at risk!

When we talk about CyberSecurity, we are referring not only to your online presence but also to the reality of your home. You see, people can steal from you and impact you, without you knowing it. Yesterday I talked about some quick tips and things you can do focused on the Virus and Malware scanning. But with the reality of Covid-19 and the existence of the Cbyerrisk, I thought I would give some advice on cleaning and securing your computer.

First, if you want to disinfect your computer, be careful. Never spray fluid onto the computer. Always spray the cleaning or cleaning fluid onto a cloth—the other thing to consider if what material you use. I don’t use regular cleaning fluids. But if you don’t want to spend money on electronic wipes, at least get an anti-static cloth. The anti-static material will prevent the significant damage caused by Static electricity on your computer!

  1. Spry, the fluid onto the anti-static cloth static electric, can manage your computer!
  2. When you are cleaning a touch screen, make sure you erase all the fingerprints on your screen.

Liquids sprayed directly onto anything electronic can short the system. It just your computer this includes TVs, monitors, and portable electronics!

Static electricity can arc and cause problems for your computer!

Everyone makes mistakes. It happens, and when it happens, there are things we can do to respond.

  1. If you can, have a hard drive that has a complete copy of your main hard drive, including all the installation files for your computer.
  2. If you are attacked by ransomware, you simply blow your computer away and reinstall from the backup n the second hard drive.

What is Ransomeware? That is where the attacker encrypts all the files on your computer without you realizing it. They have the only key and threaten not to give you the key until you pay them money. The encryption makes your files and computer unseeable. I always tell people to make sure you have a second copy of your data just in case!

On the internet, we have to be careful. For the most part we won’t have to worry. But everyone makes mistakes! The adage still applies, “Hope for the best, but plan for the worst!”
