Sedums, like Hostas and have become staples in American perennial gardens in recent years. And this one, Autumn Joy, is the one responsible. This incredible plant is now at or near the top of everyone’s list of the best perennial flowers of them all. Nothing beats it for late color in the border.
Mine started out green, then pink, now a burgundy color. So cool to see the colors change.
This is the first year to plant it in the garden. I was very excited to see it grow so well this year. Soon I will cut it back completely. Then it will return in the spring. Love the perennials in the garden.
Sharing photos below of the process the sedum goes through over the seasons.

Nice sedums, beautiful.
Love colour. Would look great indoors
We need a map of Dustin’s Garden. This one i remember you were worried about, but it has bloomed so wonderfully!
Where is it in relation to Dustin’s Bench?
This is to the right of Dustin’s bench. Thanks for asking Doc.
ok so where is that in relation to the hummingbird feeder of yesterday?
Sorry so late …. 4 months! The hummingbird feeder hangs on the deck. That is where the bird feeder is now. Where I take the blue jay photos eating the peanuts. Only a few feet away from the garden.
thanks – no need to apologize as you know I missed comments from 3 years ago! I now know where it is in the garden!
Beautiful flowers, great post as always
You are very kind thank you.

Yes it is amazing to watch the phases and colors.
I remember your previous pictures. Now it really is completely in the fall colors.
Happy that you remember. It has been a very gradual process and I have enjoyed every day of watching it. Yes it is burgundy now. It may get a little darker.
