There are many varieties of sedum. I have a sedum called Autumn Joy Stonecrop in my deck garden. Each year I put it in the garage over the winter. Then bring it back out for the spring. This sturdy perennial is as tough as they come. There are clumps of green foliage that start green, then pink, then gracefully age to rosy russet-red in the fall. A great addition to a deck garden, rock garden or mixed border.
The butterflies use the blooms as a landing pad, it will be a flat flower. I will show photos as it blooms. It is a very low maintenance plant and it is beautiful especially at the pink and burgundy stages.
The foliage will die back to the ground in cold winter regions, but will re-emerge in early spring. I am thinking of planting this in Dustin’s garden. It is outgrowing the container. I just learned the birds will eat the seeds in the fall. Another reason to transplant it to the garden.

Love it Carol. I love Sedums as well. I have a bunch of different kinds. I love it when they flower too. One is bright red, others are white to pink even. I bet you have some yellow bloomers.. Is this one?
They wont winter well in climates that get freezing, bringing them in to winter is a must if you want one where it gets cold. They are super easy to grow.

No you grow it in dirt in your garden.
