There in the distance lies
not the puzzle pieces
strewn on the floor as if
thrown in frustration
or knocked to the floor by a cat leaping
from the floor to the table
scrambling and flinging pieces to the wind
it is there, not the puzzle pieces
rather
there in the distances
The shape of bells
and the sound of wind chimes
mixed into
a metal cacophony.
never-ending noise
that sends the cat running
and leaves hands
cupped over ears.

Often something happens that upsets our plans..
that is so very true!
Reminds me of that saying life happens while we are still planning. ( I may not be quoting it word for word though)
you quoted it very well! The impact of unplanned events is always a risk!
I am very reluctant to plan, of course certain things have to be planned. Some of my plans have failed.
I am awful at planning vacations. My wife is great. But I am better at the planning (booking, hotels etc) so we split them now!
I usually have to plan everything myself
I traveled for so long that I know a lot of tips and tricks to get the right places when we travel now!
Even a well-planned plan sometimes comes off, dear friend … so now I plan a little more
You are very right my friend.
I have no obligations so I don’t have to plan …. the only thing I plan to do is leave because I have to make a reservation
my wife loves to plan the days we spend in other places. So I don’t have to plan!
But since it’s the same with me … we agree and she makes a reservation
Yes carol DM you are right and Mr DocAndresen you poem is good
thank you for the kind words!
Nice splash of red and blue color in the photo. And I like the poem as well. I heard my neighbor’s wind chimes yesterday as the wind blew and it was a perfect sound.
I wrote the poem while standing on that corner in Dublin. As I was standing there I watched a cat chase puzzle pieces that were blowing on the sidewalk!
