Bobovek lakes, a natural landmark, Kranj, Slovenia

Bobovek lakes are a group of three lakes in the vicinity of settlements Bobovek na Gorenjskem. Their total land area is around 4.5 ha. The largest, northern lake is called Krokodilnica, south sake is called Čukova jama, western and at the same time the smallest and called Ledvička. At the beginning of the 20th century it was the site of a swamp with few individual trees. In 1905 they began excavation of clay, which was used in the nearby factory. In the year 1953 they found the remains of a mammoth, arising out of the last glaciation, it’s age was about 180,000 years. In 1965, they found the remains of fossil fish klenič (Leuciscus leuciscus). In 1971 the clay stopped being exploited and the former glinokope filled up with water. Lakes today are forested, with oure water and water plants. There are a number of birds and other animals living in the area.

The lakes (ponds) are due to the ornithological, paleontological and other peculiarities protected and declared a natural landmark.

Nothing is more beautiful to wait for the sunset by the lake. Coloured golden, it's really stunning.

Beautiful view of the lake, the pier in a bad condition due to the flooding water and about to be restored.

The area is stunning.

The largest lake, as you see the flora is luscious, as some parts between the lakes are swamp. You can see Kamnik alps in the background.

It's truly beautiful to walk around the lake, and it's more beautiful when a swan is walking/swimming behind you the entire time. Because these two swans are really used to people.

I hope you'll believe me when I say the swans are domesticated. Not only this, oneis even trained. I told him to stand on one leg and he did! lol 😀

Taken in front of the pier as walking on it is too dangerous. The woods are surrounding the lake.

As I was walking around the lake, the two swans kept swimming behind me. It's interesting that these two were the only birds on the lakes today.

Around these lakes lead forest trails, so I walked through the forest and took photos of the lake from the woods.

A beautiful view of the lake but the reflection of the tall trees in the lake is even more beautiful.
