The Roots ~ 365 Photos Challenge #60

I’m continuing 365 Photos Challenge for the 60th day on January 21, 2018. Deliberately wrote that date to be a benchmark for me to move to the next day correctly. For those of you who are interested in this challenge, here are the rules and guidelines.

Photos of the 60th day are the root of a coconut tree in a neighboring garden.

The coconut tree is a special tree and also the strongest tree in the face of the storm. The advantage is obtained from the form of the roots which are fibrous that spread in all directions, not the single root that piercing into the ground. The roots can reach an area equivalent to 32 times (maybe more) the area of the trunk itself. With its roots spread evenly and broadly, the roots have a very strong grip on the ground beneath. Compare with the banyan tree or other leafy trees with a single root.

However, regardless of the tree, the roots are a major contributor to the life of a tree. Roots that make a tree live and stand upright. But as it is hidden in the ground, its services are often underappreciated. It’s let all the tops part are praised and admired.

It is the roots that labor in all directions, although in the dry season the soil is very dry or even in the barren land,  still looking for food for it stand still upright, give the life of the tree and to bear fruit. It is willing to remain hidden in the ground as long as it can provide the best benefits for those on the ground.

That is the principle of life of roots. Much philosophical wisdom can be taken from it. Some of them are patience, persistence, struggle, sincere and genuine sacrifice or service. It is impossible to write all its philosophical wisdom and meanings in this article, and anyway I am sure you all, can interpret it from your own point of view.

  1. Love this shot, and great information. I walked around a palm tree for a few minutes the other day trying to get this exact shot. I was unable to do it as it had thick vines in front of it. The roots are worthy of a photograph and congratulations on a great photograph.

  2. “The sadness gives depth. Happiness gives height. Sadness gives roots. Happiness gives branches. Happiness is like a tree that has bent its branches in the sky, and sadness is like the roots of the roots of the earth. Both are necessary – as high as he goes, he gets deeper into it. It all happens at the same time. The higher the tree, the deeper its roots will be. In fact, this always happens in proportion. This is the balance of life. “Rajnis Chandra Mohan Jain known as Osho.

  3. Now you are getting down to the root of the problem! Seriously I love this coconut tree. And it does have similarities with us and our roots. We learn as we go through life.
