I know its now time to visit a New Zealand Bird Sanctuary. It will be an all day trip.
This is the New Zealand Saddleback. Its an endangered species, very endangered. It can now never live where most people live because of cats, rats, mice, stoats, weasels, stray dogs, ferrets, opossums and people.
The New Zealand Saddleback forages on the ground and is very vulnerable. If it were not for dedicated scientists and environmental specialists in New Zealand. These beautiful birds would now be extinct.
This bird’s photo was taken on Tiritiri Matangi Island in Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf.
I love birds. I feed the wild ones, when I can. Is that you in the image?
No its not me, a member of Doc.
Well done!!! Nice post!!!
Thanks so much Georgi,
I hope these beautiful, rare birds will be protected
So do I they are being protected to the best of dedicated people. They still need help.
Thanks so much Branka.
Thank goodness for the efforts of these environmentalists. Great shot too btw.
Yes, they are doing a Sterling job and are very passionate about it. Thanks Kim.
That’s a really cute bird! They always remind me of freedom!
Thanks Elena, Birds are really beautiful and were meant to fly. These birds do.
Hope very much that the efforts to save these birds will complete success!!! By the way, is it North Island saddleback or South Island saddleback? Would like to know more about these amazing creatures!!!
Thanks Anastasia, they are the North Island Saddleback on Tiritiri Matangi Island. I know its high time I saw that island again or another bird sanctuary.
Good to know that these birds are being protected from extinction
Thanks so much Gloridaze, its time that people helped others, including all types of plants, birds and animals in danger of extinction.
Appreciate your visit.
