Bird of the Day – Day11 – The New Zealand Saddleback

I know its now time to visit a New Zealand Bird Sanctuary. It will be an all day trip.

This is the New Zealand Saddleback. Its an endangered species, very endangered. It can now never live where most people live because of cats, rats, mice, stoats, weasels, stray dogs, ferrets, opossums and people.

The New Zealand Saddleback forages on the ground and is very vulnerable. If it were not for dedicated scientists and environmental specialists in New Zealand. These beautiful birds would now be extinct.

This bird’s photo was taken on Tiritiri Matangi Island in Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf.

    • Thanks so much Gloridaze, its time that people helped others, including all types of plants, birds and animals in danger of extinction.
      Appreciate your visit.
