The meaning of your name

I always love to learn about new things in life, and that included the meaning of names, their origins and etc. A name can tell sometimes a lot about a person. My name Sarit it’s from the Jewish bible, I don’t add it here because I believe most people can’t understand Hebrew. So what is the meaning of your name?

  1. My first name is Francine. It is a diminutive form of the name Françoise, which is the female form of the name François. François is the masculine equivalent of the name Francis. All of the Francis names are derived from the Latin Franciscus which means literally Frankish which cognates with French. The Franks were the precursors of the French people. This name applies very well to me as I am a French Canadian first and English Canadian second. And that is the origin of the name. It literally means in the old French or old Frank “little free one” or “little French girl.” But most English that I meet have some difficulty with the pronunciation of the name Francine and end up calling me just plain “Frankie”.

  2. According to Seven Reflections my name means: “You can carry on for others with joy. You have a receptive nature and may bear burdens for others. You are pragmatic, thorough, strong-willed, practical and stubborn at times. You are hard working, often martyr to duty. You like home and security above all.You are bold, independent, inquisitive and interested in research. You know what you want and why you want it.”

  3. I think John – another Biblical name – means something like “blessed by God”. However, the meaning when used in common parlance and aimed in my direction is dependent entirely on the tone of voice with which it is uttered!
