I Offer a Small Glimmer of Light in Darkness

What do you do when a society that talks about kindness and being inclusive is getting darker and more unkind? How does one deal with the bias and politics that continue to divide people and destroy friendships? I’ve heard if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem but there are lots of problems and no change or solution is coming from the vitriol, hatred and disgust on all sides of the political spectrum.

The truth is, this country is becoming something hateful, not just because of its leaders, media and government stirring the pot and dividing us, it’s people’s lack of clarity, lack of access to true, nonbias facts and we the people jumping on the hate bandwagoning-remember both sides need us divided.

So what can we do? My goal is to share kindness and compassion where ever I can. I will treat all people with respect and kindness no matter how I’m treated. I will comment only when I have something decent to say to someone and only if someone asks my constructive criticism will I offer my opinion. I will not talk about politics with people, you either hate and commiserate on one side or fight and disagree on the other-it’s a no-win scenario.

I will be truthful with myself and others. I will share my faith without judgement of those who don’t. I may not be able to change the world, so many have been wanting to for so long, I will change my own small world. I will share a glimmer of light, of hope to the hopeless, kindness to the jaded and respect for those who feel disrespected. This is all I can do and will continue to do.

  1. Your thoughts about sharing kindness and compassion where ever you can deserve the deepest respect. Think that is the great way to fight the darkness & to bring hope in our imperfect world.
