Have you tried eating exotic food? Yes, this is one of the exotic foods I have eaten here in Thailand. They call this Mot Deng Kai. Mot means ants, Deng means red, Kai means eggs. So combining all these words, it simply means red ants’ eggs soup. The taste is a bit sour, bitter and the ants’ eggs were tasteless but crunchy.
Is your stomach strong enough to eat this kind of food?
Very interesting, I had never heard of this food!
I will stick to chicken eggs. 🙂
Haha, no pain no gain, how would you know the taste of the ants’ eggs, if you won’t try them.
I just hope that the ants are dead because red ants tend to be a little feisty in America
Yes, seriously, when they get the eggs they are using smoke too like how they drive the bees away.
Very cool mavic. I will look for it at a Thai restaurant in Chicago
Yes, why not. You might find it nice. So do you like exotic food?
Never really tried exotic foods but I’m open to trying them. Thanks to Yelp, I will be able to find this
Yes, these are clean. I have tried a lot of exotic food here. From ants to crocodile
Crocodile actually does not sound that bad
I’m sorry, but this food is not for my stomach
It is fine, I just like to try anything.
Unfortunately, my stomach is not a special gourmet
When you come here Thailand, you will see a lot of exotic food just along the street.
About now I see that you are from Thailand – unfortunately, I’m probably not going to be there
and Why not? This is a cheap travel destination.
It is true that we are just too afraid of flying by plane
Very interest way of eating,, but, personally I would not eat it unless I was starving lol.
I don’t like to say “no” to a host family when they offer me something. The only time I said “no” is when they offered “cobra”.
I love Thai food. Only they understand that spicy and sour are the way things were meant to be…
?It is most of the time this way. For them, if the food is not spicy it is definitely not delicious.
They know well the importance of vinegar and peppers…
for vinegar and peppers, I could say that it’s us Filipinos who fancy on vinegar and pepper.
Thais they are more in chili and sweet pork.
I love Filipino food too. Not going to eat balut, but otherwise…
Nope! here in South Africa we eat chicken eggs.
We also have chicken eggs here, even ducks. but this is different… dare?
tea eggs, thousand year old eggs…

I have heard of ants coated in chocolate and have not tried those, nor do I think I would like the eggs either, but I might taste it because we eat fish eggs, and they do not sound appetizing on the surface, but tasted ok.
The taste is ok because you won’t really taste it, but they say it is rich in protein. This soup has a slight “crunch”.
I often see the uniqueness of Thai food on TV, and I have never tried food like that.
Yeah so many Thai food here that are different, in taste and in ingredients.
