Carbohydrates are a necessary part of the human diet. It is the fuel that keeps your body functioning properly. All carbohydrates are not created equally.  Making  good choices with the type of carbohydrates you choose to use as fuel can make a big difference for a long and healthy life.

Check out these good carbohydrate choices.

Replace one of the things on your plate with a healthy choice.  For example add some dark greens to your salad.  Or maybe you mix white rice and brown rice to work on the transition. You have to start somewhere. Leave a comment with a way to make a healthy swap. We could all learn.

Brown Rice

  1. We’ve made a concerted effort to eat more brown rice in the past year. It’s funny that I have many great recipes for brown rice, but in the past didn’t eat much of it.

  1. We eat primarily whole wheat, and 80% of the flour we have in the house is whole wheat. When I bake for friends that don’t eat gluten, though, I make oat flour for the baking.
