Buttermilk. I saw a video some time ago for a recipe that rang to me so loud. I am always looking for better ways to cook and never heard of this secret ingredient. I finally tried it last weekend and it worked so well!
You have to marinate the chicken in buttermilk for at least 2 hours. The buttermilk does two things, it provides plenty of sticking power for the coating, resulting in an incredible crunchy crust. The crust perfectly seals the juices so your fried chicken is really moist. The other thing the buttermilk does is tenderize the meat helping the chicken to cook faster. In addition, buttermilk gives your fried chicken a special flavor, the same flavor it gives to pancakes and biscuits.
Don’t forget to marinate your chicken in buttermilk before coating it the next time you make fried chicken. Enjoy!

Hi Karin,
I googled home made buttermilk and found this:
Step 1:Pour 1 cup of milk into a bowl.
Step 2: Grab one small fresh lemon or white vinegar. Stir in a tablespoon or two of lemon juice OR vinegar into the bowl with the milk. Stir to combine. …
Step 3: Use in place of buttermilk in the recipe as it calls for.
Enjoy!
