Okay, some younger people might think that Moon River is corny and ‘elevator music’. I’m old enough to remember this as the theme song for Andy Williams and to also remember Andy Williams performances. I have no doubt that I could find and share Andy Williams singing this song.
Instead, I selected the rendition by Voctave to share. There is a reason for this. Voctave is an A Capella group. This entire song is done here without any musical instrument except the human voice. The only thing that I can think of that this rendition is lacking is a beat-boxer for percussion. However, even that isn’t necessary since this group is entirely perfectly synched.
I’ve listened to this song played by Boston Pops and other large, well-known philharmonic orchestras. It is my firm belief that as beautiful as those versions of this song were, they don’t approach the beauty of this version by Voctave.
In the Bible, we were told to “Make a joyful sound”. This is certainly that.
These guys are really good.
Yes, they are. Their harmony is so good that it almost feels like instruments can be heard, even though there aren’t any.
Wow, Voctave! I’ve discovered another acapella singing group to add among our favorites: King Singers, The Real Group.
Yes, Voctave has a wonderful blend of voices. I love their version of Mary Did You Know.
I remember this song and I loved that simple way Audrey Hepburn sang it in Breakfast at Tiffany’s This group does certainly make a joyful sound
I’m very much impressed by the group. The Gal that sings the highest notes particularly impresses me. With her ability, she could easily take over any performance, yet she doesn’t and controls her volume to accent the other parts, rather than dominating them. That takes skill.
I remember this song very well.
I remember in my youth hearing that song and expecting Andy Williams to walk out on stage, singing it.
Indeed, it certainly joyful sound. Thanks for sharing.
I like it because it is calm and relaxing. I am impressed by the singing of Voctave, too.
