Kim has started a new challenge for August. You can read the details here: August Just for Fun. The rules are simple. This month just write about flowers, nature and/or animals and pets. Hopefully this post qualifies for her challenge.
Yesterday I caught one of my cats, the Dude, lounging on the sofa and staring out the patio doors. He can see the birds and the bird feeder from the sofa. But he was looking without moving for a good five minutes.
Can you guess what he saw? It wasn’t a bird or another cat. The photo is grainy as it was taken through my patio screen door. I had to be sneaky to get the photo. If I opened the door he would have ran away. Here is what he saw….
I see rabbits in the yard all the time eating grass and clover. But this one had steps to come up and then he was eating sunflower seeds from the bird feeder on the deck. I have never seen this, have you? I am always amazed at what I see in my own backyard.

I’ve only seen rabbits eating grass on friends lawns own So. California. It was at night though.
Wow, brave bunny.
I could not believe it. He is a daily deck visitor.
What Dude looking at I do not know.
But she is a hunter and looks with great care and refinement.
He sees a rabbit on my deck!
Keep your cat that not eaten by the rabbit.
Of course, the joke
Yes, my cats are always, 100% indoors.
Watching the rabbit obviously
Yes and the first time to see one on my deck at the bird feeder.
I can not say as I have ever seen a rabbit eating bird seed. I sometimes see a bunny or two in my yard, but it’s not too often.
My grandmother, many years ago now, dug up a bunny. She nearly brained it as she hadn’t realized it burrowed in. My aunt (the bunny enthusiast) took the bunny family in.
I have never and was stunned to see him hop up the steps to the deck!
Funny story about your grandmother.
It is such a surprise. Bunnies are such skittish creatures. I owned one as a pet many years ago.
The ones I see are wild of course and what is funny, if they hear you and you are closest hey will freeze. Survival instinct I am sure.
I thought so too, thank you.
Such a beautiful story! 🙂 I love your posts about animals. 🙂
Thank you so much, I enjoy my cats.
I was trying to guess before I looked at the next picture. lol You could tell it wasnt a normal thing. look at that face. lol. Meika will take care of that pesky wabbit!
I know, he was frozen for five minutes!
Have you ever seen a rabbit climb steps and eat sunflower seeds?
Great photos for the challenge! And awesome capture of the bunny 🙂
Thanks Courtney, it was too cute.
What a cute attentive watcher!!! Amazing post & photos!!!
Thanks, he definitely has his attention.
Love you Dude, he is so cute. he looks like he might be spoiled a little. Loved the bunny photo too.
How sweet, he is a sweetheart.
Nice post, beautiful animals.
Thank you Branks for the comment.
That’s a beautiful sight, love the photo!
Thanks Michelle. Good to see you!
Oh, didn’t notice the new theme started already…
anyway, nice photos!
why is the cat so interested in the poor bunny?
He is interested because he is inside and the rabbit is outside. Anything that moves he is interested in just watching, like the birds.
Oh, but I heard cats eat birds, is that true or …
I’ve been believe in myth? lol
Yes indeed they do. But mine stay indoors 100% of the time.
Hello beautiful. You are well suited to this challenge
You are so kind Elenka.
