Even as a fitness enthusiast and a runner for thirteen years, I too feel discouraged to run in the heat, but sometimes we just have to take one in order to meet our daily fitness goals whatever that goal may be.
With it being just short of 100 degrees today in Chicago, I took it very easy and kept this run short not only because of the heat, but because I wanted to get some walking miles in right after. Along with my running challenges: August Running Challenge, and Alzheimer’s Run for Dementia, I do keep track of how many more miles I need to attain to complete the walking challenge, too.
Therabody Better Together 180 badge gained today which required 180 minutes of activity. I knew I was closing in on this badge, but wanted to gain it while walking instead of running. On a day like today it worked out perfectly because I went for a longer walk versus a longer run because of the heat.
After this workout I am closing in on finishing Alzheimer’s Run for Dementia 50 mile. I could very well complete it tomorrow if I wanted to, but I am leaving that to how I feel as well as the weather. I am currently sitting at 45.10 miles out of 50. After completion of Run for Dementia, I will have 12.12 more miles to go in order to complete the August Running Challenge. I hope everyone is doing well today.
