I wonder knowing her tragic death if Karen Carpenter ever listened to the song she sings so magically.
One of my all-time favorite soft rock songs. When I was a school teacher many moons ago, i used to play this song on the classroom tape recorder to help kids get ready to write!
Don’t worry if its not good enough for anybody else to hear.
Just sing!

I will look for this song on Spotify. I do not know the Carpenters.
they were a big “soft” rock group in the 70s. Karen, the lead singer, tragically died very young.
It seems, the Carpenters are not on Spotify, but I have found a tribute band that sings this song you like.
The message behind the song is a clear one. A song to ponder upon indeed.
the message is one that I have carried with me since the first time I heard this song! Bouncing on a school bus seat on the way to school!!!
I just love this song had not heard it in a long time. Richard Carpenter is alive and well and 73 years old
it is a song of strength and power, of being ourselves!
it is so vintage 70s, when i was a kid. i think her brother is dead too…
i didn’t check on h3r brother I will! yes I remember singing that song in all city choir back in the mid 70s along with The Sound of Silence.
i just googled him. he is still alive.
so did I! thanks for letting me know!
when you dont see a celebrity anymore, you automatically assume they died…
That is the sad reality. Few celebrity’s maintain a presence past their careers. That I suspect is the same as the rest of us.
Congratulations ….. great song … how old it is, dear friend?
it was released in the 1970s at the apex of her career
I just thought it must be about 50 years old, dear friend
it is pretty close to that age. it is a song of my youth!
I think the song is also of my youth, my friend
we used to sing this on the school bus! we also sand it in all city choir in 6th grade.
It’s a sad story. The song is beautiful.
i think it is my favorite of all her songs.
Such a tragedy to lose her so soon. I listened a lot and to this song.
it still makes me sad. Her life was tragic. Her music amazing.
Log in here coz I remember you, apparently, you gave me a song that I heard quite often in my childhood…
so glad this one resonates pal! i loved this song when I was little!
This is one song that is able to carry and lock me in a beautiful feeling of childhood.
then I am so glad I shared it!
This is a great song. She died so young, that’s so sad. It’s such a shame as she could of made so much good music. 🙁
she made a lot, but I think her story was one of expectation vs reality. it is a very sad story.
Sad, she died while still longing love for her mother. Including how she had to work with a dominating brother and trying to maintain a slim figure. Her songs consisted elements of a love she’s denied by someone who meant a lot to her.
My best song of Karen Carpenter is ‘Top of the World.’
I forgot…I had never heard of this song.
i am not sure this one was as big a hit as some of her others.
I listened to the song. It was is so beautiful including various photos of hers and her brother.
it really is a beautiful son – a great philosophy!!!!
that is a great song by her, Top of the world. She had many. But sing, sing a song to me carries so much more of what is possible!
Listening to the song, I understand what you mean. It carries more weight than other songs.
i used to tell the kids when I was a teacher, just be you! don’t worry if others don’t think it is good enough!
That was a wise saying. Be you no matter what others say. We are unique in our own rights, we shouldn’t try to be like others. That was great advice.
I worked really hard to convince the kids in my class of that. They, the kids were in the poorest school in the city where I was teaching.
It wss inspiring advice considering the state of their school.
