We had a freeze last night with temperatures in the 20s. A lot of the flowers are gone. But the Japanese honeysuckle blooms are getting ready to bloom, thankfully the vine on the fence survived. I snapped a photo while out walking around in the yard. Next week is suppose to bring warmer weather. We will see. I am glad to see this one survived. The birds, butterflies and hummingbirds love these blooms.

By the way, my last post would have been titled Day 140, instead of 139.
365 Photos Challenge and I am on Day 141.
This is a Great to See.
Thank you very much. It is hope.
Honeysuckle is my favorite flower of all time. I never heard of a Japanese honeysuckle. This post made my day!!!!
I love them as well LaJenna, they bring back great memories. Thank you! 😉
I will post more when they bloom.
Very interesting photo, I like things like that. You learn from doing it.
It will be blooming all around my fence soon Pamela.
A small beauty that benefits many things. May we always be that way.
I certainly hope so Albert, that is a wonderful thought!
What a beautiful Flower. Great shot
Thank you Della, cannot wait for them to bloom.
I am sorry to hear that, this sounds like a crazily cold temperature. The photo is wonderful!
I think maybe we are going to see spring temps this week Ellie, thank you.
Carol you are certainly one of the post masters on this site. If the bees love the honeysuckle then the honey must something else. Honey flavours are based primarily on the plants that they pollinate from.
You are so kind Bradley, I do appreciate your comments. I have heard of a honey called Honeysuckle Honey. Never tried it but it is probably great. I remember honeysuckle growing up, we would pick the blooms are such the nectar as kids. Fun memories.
Despite the calendar, spring hasn’t hit Chicago yet. It’s currently snowing.
I know Gary, I saw it one the news. We are just starting this week to see spring temps.
Hope is spring is starting for you too.
I thought it was then we had freezing temps last night.
That’s too bad that it froze and some of the flowers are gone now…..that happens with nature though. This is beautiful though! I hope the warmer weather does come and stay soon!
Yes that is nature, cannot do anything about it. I still have a lot that are safe.
Well that’s good to hear, that you still have a lot that are safe!
I am sorry that the cold has destroyed the flowers, his flower is beautiful, which is a Latin name…
It happens Branka, thankfully this one will survive and many others have not started blooming, they will be ok too. Thanks!
I often wonder why certain traits were selected for. Asked differently; what about that trait gives it an advantage over those without it?
Do you mean why do certain flowers attract certain insects?
Why does that V petal configuration outperform a flatter design?
Observant question. I think it’s because the leaves around the blooms are protecting it. The V petal is just a part of the vine, no effect on the blooms.
Never really thought about it.
It isn’t a common configuration, so I expect it serves some purpose. Something to do with pollination would be my guess… But what part of a blossom doesn’t have something to do with pollination?
I have no answers, I thought the entire blossom was involved in the pollination.
