Not sure when this will be posted but today, Saturday November 11th is Veteran’s Day. A day to remember all of those brave men and women who have, and still are serving our country. We salute you as our heroes.
Many families have lost husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, wives. Most are lost and go unnoticed. But the families feel the pain forever. They may die heroes but we should never forget their sacrifice. And many come back with lost legs, arms, and most all have some degree of PTSD to deal with the rest of their lives.
We should thank our Veterans every single day, not just today. They gave all so we could have our freedom. Some families only have a name on a grave marker, or on a wall. That is all they have left of their loved one. Never take your loved ones for granted and spend each moment with them telling them how much they mean to you. I salute every fallen hero, every brave soldier who gave up everything to fight for our country. Many Veterans are homeless as they return from the battlefield. Remember that when you see the panhandlers on the street. You never know, some could be heroes.
Thank you so much for this Carol, my Uncle served in Vietnam and both of my Grandfathers served in World War Two. My Father was in the Navy and Airforce!
Yes,it is a beautiful gesture from the american people to celebrate their Veterans and to show their gratitude towards them, who have sacrificed so much to serve their country.
I completely agree, thanks for commenting.
Great post, a sad story on veterans tough.
Yes indeed, they deserve to be honored.
Sad to hear some of these veterans are homeless, that should not be. Great post and thanks for bringing it up.
Yes I know Pamela, it is very sad. There are programs to help some but so many are on the streets. Thank you!
Happy veterans day to All the heroes who Sacrifed!
Absolutely, thank you Jasmine.
That is very kind. My husband still suffers from the time he spent on the battlefield. It is his constant companion.
So sorry Trenna. I personally know all too well about PTSD.
Like Albert, I am also deeply touched by your post, Carol.
Thank you Norman, when you know so many gave all, they deserve to be honored every day.
I am deeply moved to read this post. They, war veterans and their families, have contributed a lot of things from their lives, to us, and we often look at them one-eyed and often even suspect them. What I saw in this post, also I see in my country. The deceased My grandfather and father were also retired soldiers and a veteran.
Absolutely Albert. And they do not get enough recognition for what they are doing and have done. Having family members who served, no matter the country, are all heroes and you understand.
I understand very well, Carol, and that’s what makes me sad. To them, rewards are often lip service.
You are absolutely right Albert, very sad.
Thank you for your caring, Carol
