The workout: Run for Dementia & August Running Challenge

My goal was to get in nothing short of 5.30 miles for this run to put me at a placement where I have 10 miles left in Run for Dementia 50 mile, so I set my Garmin at a 2.65 mile interval workout with 2 repeats which I planned to turn around on the Des Plaines River trail once I hit the mileage.

The trail had many mountain bikers on it today in packs! Encountering them gave me the chance to take brief breaks on route as they rode passed me within the tiny path. Many of the mountain bicyclists seemed friendly which could have been because of my facial expressions which showed excitement, being that I was in my happy place on the trail.I felt pain in my achilles muscle that went away once I slowed my pace down after hitting my turnaround point. That is typically how it goes; it is just how you respond to the pain which mirrors those thoughts of not wanting to run. I wish I had the same mindset when it comes to things like cupcakes, cherry pie or chocolate cake inside of my refrigerator, hehe.

Contemplating on another run later once the sun goes down which will be shorter than this run on the trail. I am currently sitting at 40.10 miles out of 50 for Alzheimer’s Run for Dementia, and 39.76 miles out of 62.13 for the August Running Challenge. Depending on whether I go out late will determine how much I put out for tomorrow’s workout. My sole focus is on the August Running Challenge since the distance is longer. I would love to finish the challenge a week from now. I hope everyone is doing well!

Have you ever had boiled peanuts? I purchased these at Dollar Tree, and I am just dying to try them.
