The workout: Run for Dementia & August Running Challenge

As much as I would have loved to just relax and watch a movie listed on Pluto TV today, I just had to get my ass out for a run. I knew that the possibility of getting one in tomorrow was very slim due to working half the day, so I did not give in to the desire to relax and watch most likely ‘Cops’, lol. Half the battle was won once I put on my running clothes, shoes, and drove out to the park (Humboldt Park) because there is no turning back from there unless it rains which clearly it was not. But talk about being hot as hell in Chicago, though. I utilized an old method during this run. Back when I trained using a Nike + sensor, I would put in my preferred mileage then run it as the mileage counted down which mentally works for me when I have a specific goal in mind. I plugged in 2.50 miles and before I knew it I was on my last mile headed around the park. Fun! I could have easily logged more than that, but it was late in the evening and I still needed to get in a short walk.  An empowering moment after finishing this run was seeing how much I have left for the Alzheimer’s Run for Dementia 50 mile. I am currently at 34 miles out of the 50 which feels damn good. If I honestly wanted to I could finish the 16 miles off this weekend that is left in the challenge.  Tomorrow after I get off of work I plan to hold no punches back as I go for another run, but if I give in to fatigue then I will push for a double run on Saturday morning or either something longer.
