Love ItLove It

Cape May Zoo, New Jersey

I am not a great lover of zoos as I feel animals should not be confined to small areas. However, I do occasionally visit zoos, particularly where they have large areas for the animals to roam in and where thy do not make a profit out of the animals.

Cape May Zoo in New Jersey USA is such a a zoo – they do not charge an entrance fee, and simply ask for donations to help run the zoo. The animals are all kept in large areas that gives them plenty of room to walk or run around, and they look well kept.

They have a large variety of animals ranging from Giraffes and Lions, to many different types of lizard. They also have a wonderful aviary full of exotic birds. I visited in April and they were under construction improving some of the living areas for the animals.

While it’s far from ideal – animals should be kept in nature reserves with acres of free space – it is one of the better zoos I have visited.
