Damselflies are absolutely amazing insects. During my walks in the park, I have often see these beautiful insects. They are like dragonflies, but smaller ones, having weak flight and typically resting with the wings folded back along the body. They are absolutely spectacular but at the same time, some ferocious aerial predators with strong teeth and with a 360 degree view due to the very large eyes. Interestingly, during their mating, their bodies take heart shape. Sharing these photos with Nature Tuesday Challenge.

Thank you for stopping by and for the comment!
no worries, would love to interact with people
I read somewhere that the adults don’t even have mouths- they won’t be alive long enough to get hungry…
I have seen them devouring other insects!
then I must be thinking of another species
Great observation.
After coming here to Virily I have started taking interest in insects. I will from now on watch out for taking photos.
It’s a good decision! You will definitely find many interesting things!
Damselflies, and dragonflies, are quite common in the Chicago area. I love their bright metallic colors.
They are elegant insects and it’s a really pleasure to watch them.
Definitely. There’s a pond in Chicago where you can sit and watch them. Another one opened up but I haven’t had a chance to get there yet.
I never knew this. Thanks for the photographs and the instructive post.
Thank you for the comment! I’m not an insect specialist. There are just things I’ve noticed through the camera lens.
You always get the best shots. Never seen one before.
I think I’m lucky to see interesting things! That’s what makes me take these pictures.?
Beautiful captured damselfy heart.
Thank you for the comment, Hina!
