Chestnut – a favorite autumn fruit

Autumn came and hence the time of chestnut. Chestnut is the fruit of a chestnut tree originating in Europe and Asia Minor. We know several types of chestnuts. Chestnuts are popular late autumn fruits. Chestnut contains a large number of carbohydrates, dietary fiber, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Chestnut has in the past represented an important source of nutrition in autumn and winter in Slovenia, and it even represented that role in the diet as it now has potatoes. Therefore, now that nature is offering it in abundance, cooked or baked it is not missing on the table. Provide vitamins and minerals that can not be given to any other fruit. I like the best baked.

  1. As a child my parents got Chestnuts in a paper bag and took them home. They were roasted over the fire and tasted delicious even though it was differcult to eat them, they were messy

  2. Chestnuts are delicious! I had a chestnut tree in my garden, a huge one actually (almost 2 meters in diameter!), and it gave us lots and lots of chestnuts every year. Too bad we had to cut it down… actually, just the branches, the tree itself was just too big :))

  3. In autumn, when you are in town, you feel the smell of baked chestnuts. That’s one of the best feelings.I like chestnut and I cook it mostly at home, because I’m so much better. But, of course, I can eat it anyway ..
