This week I went for a trip back in history. I visited a Strasbourg Pennsylvania a small own about an hour from Philadelphia. It has the oldest running steam engines in America. I took a ride on the engine shown above and felt myself transported back in time, to a place in history when America was new and growing and people were crossing the country on trains and building what would become America.
It was a fantastic experience – the thrill of the open air carriage, the swaying of the train, the tooting of the horn, the wind in my hair. For a few minutes I felt free, free of the rat race and I felt like I was back in a more innocent time when life was exciting and dangerous.
I was there for two days and spent time in the amazing museum as well learning about the dangers and wonders of early railroads in the US. If you get a chance, you must visit.
I love the surfaces of the engine, especially the variable specularity
Thanks for sharing your experience!
How was the experience?
Very cool. I am a train buff and love to ride steam trains and historic railroads and trains in general.
Great post to share
I would love to see the ancient trains of yesteryear.
Well done!!!
