Weather seems to have a real and measurable impact on many people’s mood, but is dependent upon many factors. The impact of the weather is probably going to be greater in any geographic location that experiences lengthy periods of unusual weather.
For instance, if it’s hot and sunny for months on end, that’s probably going to make more of an impact in Seattle, Washington (a usually rainy and cool place to live) than in Miami, Florida (a usually hot and sunny place to live). It may also depend upon your “weather personality type,” but that needs further research to confirm.
Researchers have found that men responded to unexpected weather by simply changing their plans. Raining? Let’s stay in instead of going for a hike. Unexpectedly warm day? Let’s take advantage of it by going to the water park or beach. Women, on the other hand, didn’t seem as likely to modify their activities, thereby more often taking the brunt of the unexpected weather on their mood.

Weather can affect on our mood. I feel sad without sunny day.
Yes, it is said weather affects us. It seems people in the north of Europe (colder countries) (Sweden, Iceland, Finland, Norway) commit suicide more times than other people in other countries because they are not so joyful and people from the South of Europe (sunny countries) (Portugal, Greece, Spain, Italy) are happier but also lazier. But sometimes fame does not reflect the truth.
I have heard it my entire life and it is true. Suicide rates usually go up in the winter.
This is absolutely true Carol. The weather and season sure do have an effect on us.
Thanks Bradley, always good to see you. The weather plays a part in many areas of our lives.
I didn’t realize that there was a science to it but the only time weather ever changed my plans was when I knew it would be dangerous to leave the house like a hurricane or a blizzard. Otherwise, if I had to get things done I worked right through the weather.
There absolutely is science but we are still different.
The weather does truly impact our moods so much. For me, as you might know, it is about the sun. seeing the sun shining makes any other weather ok for me!
Always has and we are all different. Sunshine is the best!
it has rained all day today.
When it is raining I want to stay indoors, but on a hot day I would love to stay indoors too 😀 . We could get sun burns easily as it gets pretty hot here.
I stayed in all day it was cold and raining.
Something about a rainy day that just makes me want to relax and sleep. The sound, so soothing and the cool temperature it brings : )
Absolutely. I stayed inside all day. A fresh smell too.
Nice photo. I have to agree. I look outside and it’s gray or raining and I spend half the day working at my PC and some of the time resting and reading. Then I see the sun start to shine and I feel like going outside.
Thanks, from the rose bush in Dustin’s garden. Waiting on sunshine today.
Wonderful photo, the drops of water look like gems. Your last paragraph reminded me of the following anecdote:
A man to his girlfriend on the phone:
– Honey, I love you. I would do anything for you. I will fight anyone who tries to hurt you. I will go to the end of the world for you.
– You are so sweet, come over.
– Now? Are you crazy it’s raining!
Thanks. Oh that is too funny, thanks for the smiles. 🙂
The weather is very affecting my well-being. I am completely “useless” in bad weather.
I understand, same here my friend.
I know from my own experience how the weather affects me … if it’s nice and sunny I’m in a good mood otherwise I’m like the weather … without the will to do any thing
Yes I have heard things all of my life about aches and pains as well as your mood.
I know from personal experience. As my knees start to ache, time changes. I don’t need a meteorologist.????The photo is gorgeous.
Yes I have heard that my entire life. Thanks!
By the way, the photo was taken in Dustin’s garden after a rain shower.
That is a good observation. When it rains I tend to stay indoor. But, when I’ve become wet because of rain I don’t mind. I continue walking while rained on.
I don’t mind if the weather is not cold.
