Flowers like dahlias , waterlilies, roses, plassiflora etc look very pretty because of the way their petals are arranged and the hues involved. Yet here is the simple crown of thorns or Euphorbia Mili which looks so delightful even with it two petals and a sticky black center.
The Euphorbia mili is a plant that you can plant and forget about. It can take neglect like none other. These plants can make amazing hedges as the thorns make it difficult for critters to cross the hedge. They bloom through the year and can make for lovely, colorful hedges.
They make amazing bonsai if you have the patience and courage to prune them. I was surprised to watch a youtuber shape a crown of thorns plant into an amazing bonsai. I have never tried to do much with my plant because of the thorns. However, having it in a container for years it has naturally turned it into a wild bonsai of sorts. It hasn’t grown more than a feet and a half in height. I usually trim the long branches to keep it in shape. Last year I cut it down to a feet and it has remained this way and kept its shape.

Simple things has its own beauty.
It really does, most of us don’t seem to recognize that.
It is a beautiful plant. I prefer simple plants.
I love plants but the simpler ones are the most ignored.
I love the flowers you share. This one is beautiful. I haven’t seen this outside of botanical gardens.
Thanks Doc. The crown of thorns is a very common plant here.
I have euphorbia but the fowers are in clusters and the plant is full of thorns I wonder if what you have belongs to the same species.
It is the same plant Grace. Euphoria is the plant family name , Mili is the specific plant name.
What I have is Euphorbia and what you have is Euphoria. Right?
LOL I am euphoric a lot of times But we both have euphorbia Mili. Sorry, the auto correct at work did the mischief. I remember it from the picture you once posted on another site with a plant growing from the sticky center.
Nice to have a good laugh Christmas is round the corner (lol)
Such a beautiful plant! Unfortunately, I was able to kill it despite it being a simple plant. I know my mistake though, so I won’t repeat it.
Don’t worry Ellie925, no garden ever became one without killing plants. All of us learn from our own mistakes.
Very nice flower, dear friend
Thank you Lado, I appreciate it.
Very beautiful flower. And the color is nice.
I like this particular variety which is a medium sized one created just for container gardening. I had another one called apple blossom which dies when we moved homes.
Life is about the simple things.
I agree with it, we make things so complicated.
Yes beauty in simplicity and this is true
Thank WittyFeeds, It is indeed.
