How Conversant Are You In Mathematical Bases

Sometimes back in school something was introduced called bases. There was base 2 or binary. There was base 6 and base 8. The bases may have arisen out of two-legged, 6-legged and 8-legged creatures. In base 6 they introduced Fred, the mathematical fly and the intelligent spider came at base 8.

I wonder what the sums were to achieve. In binary, one could count in ones and zeros. In base six we had digits from 0 to 5 and base eight 0 to 7.

    • I even do not know where they came from. We were taught in the school. Following the results here, it seems other people from other countries learnt too

  1. 7 out of 8 – although I’m not sure about your answer to ‘In base 8 which number is 100’ – I thought it was 64 – wasn’t a choice…
