The number of dogs that are kept as pets, worldwide, is staggering. Dog owners probably want to keep their pet’s healthy for as long as possible. However, they also want to keep the pet happy. To do so, it isn’t uncommon for people to feed their dogs tidbits from the dinner table. This can cause problems, though. Some foods are harmful to dogs, though they are often given as treats.
Do you know what foods are safe to give dogs and which should be avoided because they are harmful? Let’s find out.

I got hamburger bun and rice incorrectly. 8 out of 10.
That is a high score! You did very well.
I got 7/10.
Good job!
Got them all right!
Fantastic! Excellent job!
Really interesting stuff here. Learning new stuff every time I take quizzes.
I’m thinking that this is a very good thing, right? lol
Got 6 out of 10 right!
Not so bad
No, that’s not bad at all.
i got 7/10
Good job!
I got all ten right. However for the peanut butter I would think that Organic wouldn’t have those toxins in it.
That is part of the problem. Nearly all peanuts have the fungus responsible for the toxin. It makes no difference if is organic or not. Organic peanut butter normally doesn’t have the sweetener that can cause problems, but some brands of organic peanut butter do contain hydrogenated oils. Hydrogenated oil is still organic.
The only one I feed my dog out of those is rice and it beats me why anyone would even feed their dog any of the rest…I got hamburger wrong because I wouldn’t give one to my dog 🙂
I know quite a few people who will take their dog to town with them and stop at a McDonald’s restaurant. They buy a children’s hamburger with nothing on it…for their dog. Hamburger is actually good for them, as is chicken, provided that it is cooked.
5/10 I wouldn’t feed a dog anything that’s not dog food, but some of these have surprised me.
One problem is that many commercial dog foods are decidedly not healthy for dogs, especially the dog food that comes from the leading brands.
A lot of peanut butter contains aflatoxins, which is known to cause cancer. That is true of all natural peanut butter, too, even if it is homemade. Also, it is a common practice with peanut butter to use hydrogenated oil. The resulting trans-fatty acids aren’t good for people and they are far worse for dogs. They can lead to diabetes, liver problems, heart problems, and kidney problems. A small amount of peanut butter probably won’t hurt, but large amounts can.
I got two wrong. I got the hamburger bun one wrong, because of the seeds on it. I didn’t know sesame seeds were good for dogs. The other one I got wrong was the peanut butter one. I do not agree with peanut butter. I use all natural. The only thing is that some peanut butter products have started using sweetener which is bad for dogs. Just check the ingredients. I also make healthy dog treats.Good to know, great and informative quiz here.
5 out of 10. The quiz challenged me
That is the best kind of quiz, isn’t it? I enjoy those that I have a chance to learn from.
You mean milk is not for a dog
Cow’s milk isn’t. It is too high in lactic acid and milk fat.
8/10
Excellent! Way to go!
Got 6 correct as well. I’ll check out the article now.
6 of 10 is pretty good. There is a lot of misinformation out there and name brand pet food manufacturers don’t help matters much.
Seven out of 10. It was very useful how to take care of my pet.
7 of 10 is really good! Good job.
6 of 10
Do you remember which ones you missed?
8/10 I missed last 2
The last one was sort of tricky. Most people with dogs probably know that corn is used in most name brand dog foods, but when they see the question, they probably aren’t thinking of the cob.
Yeah, you are right xd
With only 6 out of 10 perhaps it’s a good job I don’t have a dog, although I did know that chocolate is a no-no.
I suspect that many of these will be surprising to a lot of folks. That is the main reason I wrote the article to explain the reasons for the answers.
