Over the past four years, I have tried several technologies designed to help me work better. Some of them I have talked about in the past. Being able to get out of the house, walk my dog, and talk to someone on the phone is a massive value for me. I like noise-canceling headsets and earbuds. Now with more and more people working at home, it is crucial beyond speeding up your connection to talk about what you are doing at home. Many of us spend time on the internet. I was talking to a co-worker that has no place to work at home. They go to different rooms in the house every single day. Their work laptop has a camera so that they can do video calls, but it is hard when you don’t have one place to go.
Many years ago I had 15 computers in my house. The 15 computers were all servers. Now, I have many fewer (4) total in the house. Those 15 reuseable servers were not ever servers. They were desktop computers that people gave me or that I got for a minimal amount of money. All of those servers are now only Virtual machines in the cloud. I can quickly recreate problems and evaluate solutions virtually! It makes my electric bill a lot lower! I can also quickly test things by spinning up a Virtual machine and then when I am done, deleting it. But most people are not IT professionals; they don’t need what I chase. They only need the ability to work from home.
I had a series of posts that focused on ways to speed up your internet. It is about what you as a person need. I truly understand that. I will provide links to my other posts so that you can quickly reference them. If you are interesting, I also include links to my podcast. My podcast this month is focusing on what I call the age of distraction. What we do now, in relationship to our devices, is an exact half functional and half distraction. The information we seek isn’t always easy to get. Plus, people often get distracted when they find something. In these times of staying home and being safe, it is essential to remember that there are many other things we can do to make things a little better!

Working from home in comfort is a great argument. I’m optimistic about this site.
i am hoping for the best myself!
Such beautiful flowers! Working from home has some challenges as well as benefits. I am going to listen the podcast now.
Thanks (for the podcast listen). I’ve been doing the podcast for almost as long as I have been blogging!
I try to click it when I see a link, it helps me practice my English listening. The lenght is good too as I also have a short attention span, haha.
i always figured I had to keep my podcast short!
When I was working from home, I turned the children’s room into an office. Yes, the views have really dropped a lot. I don’t know where that goes. I am currently working on how normal I will not know in the future.
i would miss Virily if it stopped but I would understand why they did.
Beautiful flowers. Too bad the views are down. Surprised? Not at all. I will keep going as long as I can.
i feel bad for a lot of people now, they are frustrated and leaving.
Yes I know many that are, I am trying to be hopeful for them but they say it is not worth waiting on posts to be approved, and now waiting months for payment.
some honestly are leaving because of the negativity. Some are leaving because of the virils changing.
I wish there was a way to convey hope to everyone.
