About a week ago I finally stirred myself up to get out of the house and get some pictures of the river. The park with river access is about three blocks from my house and it’s about the length of another block to the trail that parallels the river. Most of the year the river is dry on the surface and runs below the ground. But we’ve had lots of rain this year and I knew the river was now full. I wanted some pictures before it disappeared again.
The park itself is across the street from the housing tract where I live. So there are houses on one side of the street and on the other is the park and the river. The river trail begins in the park. One side of the trail is the grassy part of the park. The other side is wild along the river. There are numerous large trees, many dead or dying. Some have fallen. Some have dropped dead branches. The top picture will give you a sample.
Sometimes I see wildlife in the park. Lots of birds forage there and the occasional rabbit runs across the path and into the brush. But on this particular afternoon I saw something in the park I’d never seen before. A cat on a log in the brush beside the river. I did a double-take and then got my camera out. The second photo shows the cat as my eye first saw it. The third shows the zoom shot so you can better see the cat. Where do you suppose the cat came from? Why is it in the park?

It’s rather difficult for me to define if this cat feral or not. Maybe, it’s just the cat who walks by herself. Liked your post + photos very much!!!
Thank you. It seemed to be a peaceful cat, but most cats are when they are at rest.
Hey, nice to see you have been busy on here again while I was loafing elsewhere. I hope to spend some quality time here in the summer.
I wouldn’t exactly say I’d been busy here. If they hadn’t updated that dashboard today I think I would have left. We’ll have to talk.
Just making this live again, for a short while.
Cats are naturally kind. They find themselves in trouble because they do not like water.
I think that’s the house pet just wandered away or left her alone in nature.
I really hope that’s the case. It’s a lovely cat.
After a long time being confined in the house by rain, now is the time to use the beautiful weather to walk, and meet the cute cat.
I wouldn’t exactly say we met, since I wasn’t able to get past all the brush to get close.
Hard to say whether the cat just moved in with a new owner or feral. Nice shot.
Thank you. I hope it belongs to someone and will go home before nightfall.
I hope you’re right. I’ve never seen a cat in this park before and I walk it often. Everyone walks their dogs there, which may be one reason why I don’t see many cats.
I couldn’t get close enough to see it well. It probably wouldn’t have let me get close anyway.
What a beautiful cat, I hope he has a home. Good to see you!
It reminds me a lot of Sarah, my neighbor’s cat that I loved so much.
He found the perfect place to hunt didn’t he. I bet he is from the houses across the street. Smart cat.
I hope it’s from the housing tract. I’ve never seen this one before when walking.
I do not know if there are many homeless cats. Since you do not mention such a thing, I think a home cat has gone out for a walk.
Maybe. A walk and then a little catnap.
