Of all the species of beetle, the most beautiful is the Cetonia aurata (rose chafer) , it is metallic green, as in the photo above. They are harmful insects, especially larvae that feed on the roots of the trees. After mating, the females hide in the ground where they lay eggs, while the males remain on the surface and fall prey to the birds or die of old age.

They are harmless insects. You don’t have to be afraid of them.
We used to play with these when we were young. Never knew they were the bay guys then, but we don’t have these anymore.
