What did the butterfly say to the sun? – Macro Monday

These butterflies are very interesting. They are called common blue butterflies (Polyommatus icarus).

They have violet-blue upper wings with grey-beige undersides. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to capture a decent picture of the beautiful blue upper part of the wings.

Common blue butterflies are found in Europe, North Africa, the Canary Islands, and east across the Palearctic to Northern China. Recently it was discovered in Quebec, Canada.

An interesting fact about butterflies I read is that they are near-sighted but they see color, including a range of ultraviolet colors that are not visible to the human eye. Their eyesight is good within 10-12 feet or about 3-3.5 meters.

The butterfly said to the sun,”They can’t stop talking about my transformation. I can only do it once in my lifetime.

If only they know they can do it at any time and in countless ways.”
