I love oats and I eat it frequently but most of my friends don’t know how to eat it, which is weird for me. Half a cup of oats has a high content of copper, zinc, iron, manganese, phosphorus, magnesium and vitamins B1 and B5. Only that amount of cereals has 13 grams of protein and 51 grams of carbohydrates.
Furthermore, oat is also abundant in fiber, helps to lose weight, because it also reduces the levels of ‘bad’ or LDL cholesterol and improves the body’s response to insulin absorption.
Here are the ways I often eat it:
1- Oats with water or milk – If you don’t like to cook or just don’t have the time. Then, drink a glass of water or milk with several tablespoons of oat flakes. Soak them for a few minutes and add a little sweetener or honey.
2- Oats with fruit – Boil water or milk and then add the oats. Cook on low heat for 20 minutes or until the flakes are soft and creamy. Turn off the heat and let it cool. Serve with honey, cinnamon, granola and sliced fruit. this is my favorite way to eat it.
3- Smoothie – Add oatmeal with natural yogurt or milk, the fruit you like and honey. Mix the ingredients until you get a creamy and consistent shake.
