in a dream?
or pause and breathe
the real world?
wait
the sound of knocking again
what are you expecting
and who now would knock?
stumble to the light
and then voice cupped
against the resonating door
who is there
but the knocking continues
the sound
louder
and louder
knocking.
Do you dare?
op[en the door, and
see.
do you dare?
cupping your voice and then
sliding the bolt
to see.
But,
the knocking gone
there is no one there.

I like this poem. But let me ask you something, Doc. Who inspired you to write this? Any chicks in the hotel???????.Don’t take it seriously. A little laughter and smiles about eating over the nasty virus.
actually it was a knocking on the next room’s door that awakened me. there were many things at the hotel!
thanks for the chuckle!
Great poem, I like the mood! I miss the time when I used to have a very deep sleep.
i miss that time as well. the sad reality is sometimes we can’t sleep!
I have slept through many critical situations in the past; life was simpler that way, haha.
sometimes it is, hopefully you haven’t slept through a fire!
I would by no means open the door at night.
that actually happened to me in Singapore. It was scary.
I don’t remember anyone knocking on my door at night … I probably wouldn’t open it either
it wasn’t my door thank goodness but it was nerve wracking.
This can be really annoying and uncomfortable, my friend
it really can be, shook me a bit,.
I always think I hear knocks on the door when my husband is travelling, I would never open the door to anyone at night.
that is a wise course of action! i was scared for sure when I did.
When crime rate i high it is better to be cautious.
that is a thought I didn’t have. Not then, nor now. It is a very apt thing. When the crime high keeps the doors locked.
thanks for reminding me there is more than simple!
The knock can be very disturbing at a hotel, especially when you are not expediting anyone.
i ended up calling the front desk, it was pretty scary.
