The Problem with being a teacher…..

I am completely aware that I retired from teaching. However, once you become a teacher it changes the way you see the world. You actually believe you can teach someone something and it will some how change their outlook and change the world. This “never” goes away. You can try and suppress it and that works for a time, but eventually it comes bubbling back up. So here it goes.

I imagine that everyone here is trying to get as many “Virils” as possible. That is why I am baffled about some of the things I see or don’t see on the site.

  1. Participate
  2. Answer the questions
  3. Submit to the Open lists
  4. Be kind
  5. Be helpful

Here is the challenge I leave you with. Do something today, here that you have not done before and tell me about.

  • Will you do something new, different, or that you not done in awhile here today?

    • Yes
    • No

  1. I think your opinion is correct, but we must also understand that everyone has their own desires, priorities, and interests. Especially about all of us in Virily, I personally try to play in different ways, as best I can, as earnest as I can, with all my limitations. On several occasions, I have also voiced this view in my way, and certainly without any hope. And I see changes, including how Virily has given minimum limits for a response. But there are other things also we need to realize, active members here come and go, those who yesterday “changed” is now inactive, then we will meet with other new friends with different intentions as well. How much do you receive messages and email “business” offers from Virily’s friends? I have received very much. when I write this response, I see you have 46 views, you got 6 votes on your challenge and 4 votes for this post. What phenomenon do you see? Here is our reality here. So, let’s just have some fun here with all our best, Trenna.

    • Reality is simply that people are often more focus on themselves than others. I am often just the opposite(as I think are you.) I have only received one strange offer and I stopped following that person. Again I am very new here and I do enjoy participating..

      • You are right. The reality is true, but the reality also makes sense because many of our friends are trying to making money online, including through Virily, and we need to understand that. There are also friends who are just happy to post without concern on the next things. I (sorry, if again say about me) personally just put forward the fun, make new friends, and add new knowledge. I also always try not to be transactional (we can not expect people to search, find, visit and comment on our posts), visit as many posts as possible and listen to the posts I read so that I can make meaningful comments. That’s my opinion, Hopefully useful.

  2. I’ve never been formally trained to be a teacher, and yet I find myself continually in the position of teaching people one thing or another. I enjoy doing it, but it is strange how that worked out. By the way, I agree with your 5 points, particularly number 4. I love the adage, “It is better to be kind than to be right.” That is something I often have to remind myself of when I’m arguing a point. After all, nobody wins an argument. :))

  3. I loved your hints. I would love it if you did them again in a great big post. I keep forgetting and have to go back and figure it out.

Sure whatever you do counts. You are participating. I really like the idea of the unlimited Open List, but I can not for the life of me get anyone to really understand how to play along, make submissions and vote. As people vote the positions move, but people don’t seem to do it all.

  4. Would I be cheating if perhaps I just posted a sunrise post that I haven’t done in a long time? I agree completely with all that you listed. I used to do memes with helpful tips in a site that is gone now.
Oh, and once someone did a challenge using hashtags, you had to find 10 people not on your friends list that you don’t know and comment on one of their posts that you admire. The comment had to be something heartfelt and not just something short. It really went over well and people learned that this indeed generated tons of traffic to their own page just by doing this.

    • Well Kim, you are a great example of getting back in touch and reaching out and I never miss your new stuff and I am reading all your past. I don’t think may realize that on an open list you can make the number of submission limitless. It can just keep going. It is in the help section. I was hoping the “Go Tell It on the Mountain” post would be an easy way to show people because their submission is just going to youtube finding and sourcing your pick and then saying something. The fun comes in voting them up and down. (Maybe I am the only one that thinks it is fun.) I have submitted two and no one else wants to play. – It was kind of like the quotes – I loved doing them, but no one would take the challenge from me. Maybe I don’t belong.

      • Thank you Trenna, glad you noticed. I do try to get back to all my comments to see if there are replies, but some do escape. I am not sure why the list format doesnt go over well, but it doesnt here. I have tried many times, so have some of the others.. It is hard to figure out what people like, I think we are all still experimenting.
