Abide is a complex word that means variously “lives in,” “goes in accord with,” and “co-exists in harmony with.” I named my cat, the Dude, after the movie The Big Lebowski. It is a 1998 movie starring Jeff Bridges (The Dude), John Goodman, Phillips Seymour Hoffman, Sam Elliott and many more.

Also above in the photo is my Dude after I brushed him relaxing on the screen room table in the shadows. My reflection of course with the camera to the left.

That is okay with me since one cat that was recently adopted has the name “Bert” after Gilbert of the kids cartoon “Calliou” fame which is Gilbert.
