Tech Wiz Shameless review Jabra Evolve 80 Headset…

Do you use headphones with your computer or your devices? I am a huge Jabra headset fan. I use the Evolve 80 USB wired headset for my work computer. It is a great headset, in that it offers three things that I need.

  1. Over the ears!
  2. Noise Cancelling.
  3. USB connection with a Microphone

The three are important because I don’t like the in the ear headsets as much. I’ve had a number of the in-the-ear headsets over the years. Frankly, I much prefer the over the ear. In part because you have no pressure on your ears. For some reason pressure on the inner part of my ears bothers me. That is why I like the over the year headsets. The Evolve 80 is an over the ear headsets and also add a layer of padding that makes them very comfortable to wear for 5 or more hours at a time. They also include a noise canceling Microphone, that allows you to speak without picking up as much of the noise around you. That is a very nice feature.

Jabra also includes noise canceling, and that is a great feature when you are in a busy office or cube area. It does cause you to jump when people come up behind you, other than shadows you may not see them walking behind you!

The Evolve 80 is a USB connected device, that is very nice. It doesn’t (the Evolve 80) require specific drivers as Windows 7, 8 and ten have integrated USB audio capabilities. Microsoft doesn’t always get credit for making our lives easier, but they often do just that. The Jabra 80 includes a 4-foot cable. That is also very nice for those times you forget you have headsets on and get up at your desk!

They are also great for listening to music while you are working!

Finally, they are fantastic when you use VOIP (Voice over IP or computer-based telephone such as Skype, Jabber, Facebook and Google Hangouts (and others).

Overall I give the Jabra Evolve 80 an 8 out of 120
