I realized this year that I have four headlamps. It isn’t a problem, one is on the boat (2 were), and three are at home. One of them doesn’t work anymore, so I got rid of it. That leaves me with two. We have one we use for our evening walk. Once Daylight savings time ends, the daylight ends with it. Normally in November, it is dark by roughly 530 at night which is before we are heading out.
Headlamps are important for us because we cross two streets. One of the streets is very busy, and we’ve almost been hit a couple of times in the daylight. The light is critical because, in the dark, the likelihood goes up without the headlight!
It is funny when I think about headlamps. We used to have them when we would go into caves years ago. I didn’t have one for a long time but now need one both for the boat (to check things in the engine room) but also on the walk. That got me considering other technology things I feel like I need. What’s in your bag question for today.
- What’s in my bag – I have two headsets, one for my computer and one for my phones. Why two? Well, I got one at an event and the other I had already bought. I thought I wouldn’t keep the USB headphones, but, since having and using them, I am keeping them. Jabra makes great headphones, and both allow me to listen and speak.
- A touching projector, for impromptu meetings
- Power bank
- And cables.
The bag changes when traveling with my family take out the headphones a put in a speaker and cameras.
For the most part, I have tried to reduce the weight of the bag when it is my backpack. If it is a rolling bag I am not as worried about weight, then it is more about the overall flexibility.
What is in your bag? (I’ve asked before) let me know in the comments!

photo albums have our past
In fact, they do, but photos age. Thanks for reading!
I have a lightweight backpack, which I fill with just the stuff I think I’ll need at any one time. This is usually photographic equipment, spare battery, bean bag, etc. I wouldn’t mind a solar charger… so if anyone wants to gift me one for Christmas! lol
I have a bag like that for weekends. During the week I am still bound ot all the crap I have to carry for work!
I don’t get out much, other than to run errands and you don’t need a bug out bag for that…
Sadly I get out almost everyday trekking from Maryland to Virginia. 20 miles as the crow flies. 30 miles by road. 2 hours in time most days.
that’s brutal, is it avoidable?
It is sometimes. The problem is I have in-person meetings some days, so I have to be in Virginia. Other days I have to be in DC. But DC is nice. I can drive to the metro station and be in downtown DC in 40 minutes. No Traffic on public transportation. I can then be home in 40 minutes in the evening.
DC? Is the crime still awful there?
Baltimore is far worse, although DC still has some issues.
Really? How bad must Baltimore suck to be worse than DC
For a while last year (2018) Baltimore was number one in the US for murders. It is a really old city that hasn’t had a lot of success digging out of yesterday. It’s better than it was.
I’ve heard that violent crime is on an overall decrease thanks to advancements in forensics
It is nationally, places like Gary Indiana, Baltimore Maryland still have issues. That is why I am asking for a Wall around all cities that have an increase in murder rates 🙂
you are presidential material, sir!
I suspect the country is not ready for someone like me. But thanks, I assume I can count on your vote!
take america to the doctor in 2020!
As long as you will come along as my campaign manager, that is a slogan I can use!!!
