It long past spring and we are well into the summer. To be truthful we are at the end of summer waiting for the rainy season to begin. This is a picture I had taken a few springs ago.
The trees were just budding into bloom and putting out young colorful leaves, it is at this time when a number of birds come to take a peck at the leaves and enjoy the mild warmth of the sun in the mornings.
This bird here is the Myna (sometimes spelled Mynah) is a pretty common bird in south East Asia. Its a noisy bird found usually in groups, they chatter all day long and fight with each other. These birds are specialist in mimicking other bird cries. These can be trained to talk, but no one really does since they are common around here. I love bird watching and no bird is too common for me.
This is one of my favorite pictures of the myna.

We have plenty of Mynas in New Zealand………..
That is nice, I didn’t know that.
We call it Jalak (Starling), and there are quite a variety of these birds in my country.
I am glad to know the other names for myna thank you.
Fantastic picture. I do not think we have this bird
Thank you Vidocka, I am glad you liked it.
I don’t think we have this bird in the US.
I don’t think so too. This belongs to the South East Asian regions.
Wonderful picture … I hear about this bird for the first time and it’s really special
I am glad you like the picture, I am happy to have introduced you to the Myna.
The bird has really nice colors on the head.
You really wouldn’t notice the bird in its natural surroundings if not for the bright yellow around the eyes.
When i was few year old , I had this myna in my home
Witty Feeds, I do remember a class mate of mine had one as her pet. Did yours speak?
Beautiful capture! a top shot indeed!!!
Suny thanks first of all, It is one of my favorite pictures. I waited for days for birds to alight on this branch and what a contrast the myna provided for me.
