Saturday Critters – I said hello to this beautiful butterfly!

Today I said hello to this beautiful blue butterfly female! She was sitting on the grass trying to capture the heat from the sun. She looked at me and then pointed an antenna at the ground, in response to my greeting!

The common blue butterfly is a beautiful and small butterfly. It has a wingspan of 28–36 millimeters. Unfortunately, their numbers have decreased a lot over the years. How do I know she’s a female? Is simple.Females’ wings are brown with a row of red spots along the edges of the wings and usually some blue at the base, while males usually have wings that are blue above with a black-brown border and a white fringe.
