Today’s poll is focused on my blogs of the past few days, Transactive Energy, Solar power and Wind Turbines. I have spent a lot of time looking at the concepts and thinking abo9ut the impact of them on what I do, how I do it, and of course the impact on the world around me.
In the past 36 months, we have reduced our carbon impact on the world by 25% overall.
We have also saved more than 3000 dollars on electrical costs.
We could, should and will do more! Our next thing is figuring out how to get the batteries that would allow us to use more solar power overall than power company power!

I have never used solar but I know of many that have and it is a great way to go!
I have a solar array on my roof. It really is a wonderful power source. I currently have a generator for night time power loss, but am considering adding the solar battery packs.
You should Doc! You can have fully charged batteries just waiting to be used. It is a cost for the marine batteries, but even old car ones will work. They just have to be replaced more often. I made my own shed for them. Make sure its well ventilated and off the dirt grouind. Ground will drain them.
I was thinking about buying the Tesla system. Batteries, such as marine and others only last two, three years with charge and discharge. PS, can’t build a shed our HOA prohibits out buildings.
Here in Spain, where I live now, the homes have no solar array on the roof
Now that is interresting, Portugal your neighbor to the west has huge wind turbine farms. Germany your neighbor to the north is nearly 33% of its total power produced and consumed from solar.
I got all of them correct. I know because it said 100% on each one! Yes, I was the first to answer. I have used solar and absolutely love it. We did our own in the desert and did not hook into the power grid. It is so freeing. Makes me grin. It’s easy to do on your own if you do not want to plug in to the power grid if you community allows this. It is basically just plug and play so to speak.
Your comments are very apt! It is very freeing! If your community allows you to, not being on the power grid is a good thing!
