Poll: What’s Your Favorite Music Genre?

I am curious!

Reading a quiz compiled by Norman, I was amazed that one of my close friends in Virily, a woman, about the same age as me, loved Metalica! It made me so curious about the music tastes of all my friends in Virily (of course also related to gender and age).

So, I want to know the taste of music from you all, my friends. You may choose more than one.

    • You’re right, Paul! Latin, it’s a genre that I forgot to include it on the options list! By the way, the music of your choice is unique, I have never heard of Merengue… Well, Paul, thanks for the input and also for taking part.

      • Merengue is a musical genre popular in Puerto Rico and The Dominican Republic. I’m not sure if the videos are accessible via You-Tube in your country but if you are able to access them I would highly recommend listening to these artists: Las Chicas Del Can & Myriam Cruz (Dominican Republic) , Olga Tanon & Zona Rosa (Puerto Rico)

  1. In placing my thoughts on music Im not familiar on all the genres. I listen to mainly classical music, I like the music of any melodious musical artist. A lot depends on the delivery of the music itself.

  2. I’d never heard of Dangdut music either, so thanks for the explanation. My musical taste is quite varied. I like listening to a lot of music from the 50’s and 60’s, and also Country and Religious music too. I enjoyed your poll, it was fun to do. =)

    • The mention of the name “dangdut” is an onomatope of the sound of tabla (in a dangdut world called a drum only). Dangdut is a mixture of Malay kinds of music, the rhythm of the desert (Arabian), and Indian or Malay musical forms influenced by Indian songs. Your music tastes are interesting, CoffeeQueen. There must be so many powerful memories that tie the music to your taste. Thanks a lot for your participation in this poll.

    • In general, we listen to music depending on mood and time. You are second only to Norman asking about Dangdut. I am glad to hear it. I myself do not love it, but also curious about how far its cruising range. Dangdut is a typical Indonesian music (but not traditional music) and quite spread in Asia, especially Southeast Asia. Huge thanks for your participation, Ellie.

      • Thank you for the explanation! I always love learning about different cultures and their music, movies, literature, lifestyle, etc. I just checked Dangdut on youtube and it reminds me a little of the songs in some older Indian movies. However, other songs sounded really modern, so I’m not sure if I listened to the correct things!

    • Hahaha… Dangdut is a typical Indonesian music and currently quite spread in Asia, especially Southeast Asia. I deliberately put “others” there to be a preferred post like Irish music you like. I know that there are so many types of music, like Indian, Japanese, Chinese and other music that is typical of a country. For this poll, I try to get it in the global category. About Dangdut, I deliberately threw it in order to rise up question, as you asked above… Hehe… Thank you for taking part in this poll, Norman

  3. I’m an avid fan of alternative rock, punk rock, a little bit of pop music and some reggae…u have missed funk, ska, and new wave…But all in all, u got a nice poll…Congrats! Your poll post is TRENDING NOW…Good job Albert 🙂

    • Yes, you are right. I did not include that type of music, firstly, funk I think there are already its representatives: jazz, blues and R & B. New Wave is at number 9. Ska that I consider to be a reggae precursor mixed with jazz and R & B, I consider to be represented. But if you do not think so, I respect your opinion. Secondly, I am afraid this poll will be too long, considering the initial format is not “Yes or No” but click on favorite option (unfortunately always fail/messy after submission). One important thing, thank you for taking part in this poll, my friend.
